Weather & Payments..

As you all know, the weather has been hot and dry, we are now in a severe drought.  All of our lawns have been heat and drought stressed.  Some tips: limit activity on your stressed lawn, mow early morning or early evening.  keep your lawn cut at roughly 3 1/2" height-- do not stop mowing, dont let your lawn get to 4-5" and leave it-- this just creates a great a great environment for disaease and insects. Now is a great time to audit your irrigation systems and watering practices--- as its easy to see where your dry and hot spots are and to address them. Some lawns not being irrigated may not survive or recover very well, please plan early for your fall time seeding needs--schedule with us early if needed as we book up early for seeding.  some info from umass https://ag.umass.edu/turf/management-updates

Also, our online payment processing service IPN , has closed up shop and discontinued service as of 6/30, we are actively seeking a new payments provider, please bear with us.  We appologize for any inconvenience.  Please contact us with any quesitons jbturf@comcast.net    Thankyou and have a great summer!

ITS BEEN A LONG HARD WINTER, AND SPRING IS FINALLY AROUND THE CORNER!  AS THE SNOW COVER SLOWLY MELTS AWAY, THERE MAY BE A FEW SURPRISES LEFT BEHIND.

YOU MAY SEE SOME UNSIGHTLY DAMAGE FROM

  • SNOW PLOWING AND REMOVAL
  • SALT AND CHEMICAL ICE MELT
  • SNOW MOLD LAWN DISEASE
  • WINTER KILL TO TURF PLANTS

JBTURF RECOMMEND THAT YOU REMOVE DEBRIS THEN RAKE OUT OR DETHATCH YOUR LAWN ASAP.  THIS WILL HELP BREAK UP MATTED DOWN AREAS, AND ALLOW AIR INTO THE THATCH AND ROOT ZONE. WE RECOMMEND A GYPSUM APPLICATION FOR SALT OR PET DAMAGED TURF.  AS TEMPERATURES RISE AND THE TURF IS FERTILIZED, YOU WILL LIKELY SEE SOME REGROWTH IN THESE DAMAGED AREAS.  IF DEEMED NECESSARY, THE TURF MAY NEED TO BE RESEEDED. THOUGH FALL IS THE BEST TIME FOR RESEEDING, SEVERE DAMAGE MAY NEED TO BE SEEDED RIGHT AWAY.
